A year-round tourism initiative

Hiking & Outdoor Tourism Experience

The Hiking and Outdoor Tourism Experience serves as the official opening activity of the Ngwathe Easter Experience 2026 and represented the programme's commitment to tourism development, wellness promotion and community participation.
The activity was successfully hosted on 21 March 2026 at Hakuna Matata Adventures in Parys and was coordinated by Rise Up T Adventures under the leadership of Project
Coordinator Tebello Mabiletsa.

As one of the programme's key development pillars, the Hiking and Outdoor Tourism
Experience was designed to showcase the tourism potential of Parys and surrounding
areas while encouraging healthy lifestyles, outdoor recreation and community
engagement.
The activity provided participants with an opportunity to experience local tourism
offerings while strengthening awareness of Ngwathe's potential as a tourism destination.

Purpose.
The 'Why'

The Hiking and Outdoor Tourism Experience was implemented to support the broader
tourism development objectives of the Ngwathe Easter Experience.
The programme sought to:
• Promote outdoor tourism within Parys and the Free State Province
• Encourage healthy and active lifestyles among community members
• Support local tourism operators and tourism-related enterprises
• Increase awareness of local tourism attractions and recreational opportunities
• Position Ngwathe as an emerging tourism destination
• Create opportunities for social interaction and community participation
The initiative aligned with the Foundation's objective of using tourism as a catalyst for
economic participation, destination marketing and community development.
