A year-round tourism initiative

Ngwathe Easter Experience

The Ngwathe Easter Experience 2026 Main Music Festival serves as the flagship
component of the broader Easter programme and represented the culmination of a series of integrated development activities implemented across tourism, sport,
entrepreneurship and community development.
Hosted on 04 April 2026 at the Fezile Dabi Stadium in Tumahole, Parys, the festival brought together music, culture, tourism and local economic participation in a high-impact
community celebration.

The event was organised by the Edgar Legoale Foundation in partnership with Ngwathe Local Municipality as the Principal Strategic Partner, together with various government departments, corporate partners, media partners and community stakeholders.
As the most visible component of the programme, the festival played an important role in strengthening the visibility of the Ngwathe Easter Experience while creating
opportunities for artists, entrepreneurs, vendors and local businesses.

Purpose.
The 'Why'

The Main Music Festival was implemented as the Arts, Culture and Creative Economy
pillar of the Ngwathe Easter Experience 2026.
The programme sought to:
• Promote arts, culture and creative expression
• Create performance opportunities for established and emerging artists
• Stimulate local economic activity through vendor and SMME participation
• Enhance tourism and destination visibility
• Encourage youth participation and engagement
• Strengthen community cohesion and social interaction
• Support the broader objectives of the Ngwathe Easter Experience programme
The festival was intentionally designed as more than an entertainment event. It was
structured as a development platform that utilised arts and culture to create social and economic opportunities within the community.
